The new firmware is a very welcome upgrade for existing iPhone owners, but what have I found good and bad so far?
Yay!
- Mass mail delete
- Reply from any mail account, plus BCC
- Security fixes
- App store (Truphone! Games! GTD! Internet Radio! I could go on…)
- Saving photos from email/web
- Viewing & adding to individual calendars
- Contacts search
- Stand-alone Contacts app
Boo!
- Realising I don’t need a stand-alone Contacts app 😉
- Viewing photos saved from email/web
– if they’re large photos (e.g. 4Mb), the Photos app locks up when you’re trying to scroll - Headphones “still in” bug
– the iPhone still thinks the headphones are in, so there’s no sound from the speaker until you plug/unplug again - Calendar colours not matching up with iCal (minor, minor gripe)
- The Phone app seems slower, as is Contacts search
- No push notification until September
– so IM on the iPhone is a bit useless - Longer sync times while iTunes backs up the apps and all their data
- The occasional crashes
And all the other missing bits from my wish list. This MacRumors thread has more details on bugs and whatnot.
Anyone else have any bits they’re loving or desparately missing? Before you say it, yes I know – cut and paste. No argument here.
