It’s all over bar the shouting.
Although not exactly an official announcement, Carphone Warehouse has added black and white 32GB iPhones to its ordering system.
So whether the shouting comes from Steve Jobs or not, there’s a shiny new iPhone coming at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference next week in California. Apart from the stuff we already know about iPhone OS 3.0, rumours have already pretty much confirmed its additional capabilities:
- Increased storage, to 32GB
- Faster processor
- Magnetometer (digital compass)
- Movie downloads
- Video recording & uploading
- 802.11n wireless
- And maybe an OLED screen, which will also improve battery life
The possibilities that the new hardware will enable are mouth-watering. Using your iPhone effectively as an Apple TV, downloading HD TV shows and playing them through your telly. Enhanced reality overlays using Google Maps and the magnetometer. Oh, and not waiting for things while iPhone OS lags…

Questions:
- Will the new OS be released for download next Monday?
- When will the new hardware be out?
- When will it make it to the UK?
- And will it be just one iPhone model only?
Roll on next Monday!
UPDATE: Macworld have a good piece up about the new iPhone. It’s like my article above, only written properly.
